Steps to make Onion Tomato Chutney:

  1. Let’s heat the pan. Now add oil. When oil is hot add asafoetida, urad dal, dry red chillies, mustard seeds and sauté lightly.
  2. When the dal started turning brown, add cumin seeds, garlic cloves, small piece of ginger, green chilli and sauté for a while. Now add onion chunks. Nicely toss it. Do not let the onions go brown. Onions are soft now.
  3. Now add chopped tomatoes, add salt and give it a nice toss, add thick tamarind pulp, mix it well and cook it for 10 minutes. Now switch off the flame and transfer into the blender. Do not add water and make a fine paste. Now Chutney is ready & enjoy with dosa/Idli
