This year for Makar Sankranti I am making Til mawa ladoos for my family, It's a yummy combination of sesame seeds, mawa(milk solids) and Powdered Sugar. Sesame Seeds Ladoo is a sweet which we usually prepare during Ganesh Chaturthi. Black sesame seeds are rich in protein. Delicious sesame - Jaggery laddoo (ellu urundai in tamil) are enjoyed year around.

Instructions to make Sesame Mawa Ladoo:

  1. Heat a pan and dry roast the sesame until slightly browned. Remove them on a plate and let them cool. Grind in a blender to make a coarse powder.
  2. Heat mawa in the same pan and cook for 5-6 minutes. Remove the pan from heat. Add sugar, milk powder, powdered til, cardamom powder, almonds and cashew nuts in it and mix well.
  3. Grease your palms with ghee and take small portions of the mixture and shape them into round ladoos and coat them in some sesame seeds. Store in an airtight jar for up to 10 days.
